Why are we all here today?
Reframe the "why?" question and discuss effective techniques of finding root causes
Options for questions to diagnose issues
Benefits of reframing
"This person is a...jerk!"
"Why can't you understand that the team is doing the best that they can?"
What don't we know?
Get a bigger picture P.O.V.
Stay focused on common goal (common ground)
How do you find root causes?
Is it really the team?
Again, start with the goal
Remember the goal is for the customers
Start with the big "why?"
Is this just shifting blame?
Approach with curiosity
Inquiry, but not inquisition
See a problem from multiple points of view
Add the perspective of others to your own perspective
Ask "What?" questions to add info to the discussion
Use the Purpose to Practice (P2P) Liberating Structure to establish a goal and vision for the team
"I'm confused about…"
"What different choices could we have made (as a team)?"
"What other options were available to us?"
"What support do you want?"
"What about the surrounding system resulted in this situation?"
